Dumb question alert! How can I tell which version of HTML I am using? I tried adding the DOCTYPE you listed above and some of my L/R/center justifications were off. I am using FrontPage 2003 if that tells me something. Thanks again for all the information Hans and IONWeb!
There are no dumb questions I use DWMX for coding and I can set the preferences to specific version. Does FP not have the same option?? I would also assume that FP has a built in rules checker?? In DW, how it works is this: You decide on what version you are going to use and the built-in validator checks for errors. Even with the built in validator - you still need to use the w3c validator because WYSIWYG are not perfect in this area. If you want - email me one of your pages with the doctype in place and I'll take a peek at the code to see what might be going on. Might be easier that way rather than to lay out a million possibilites as to what might be happening. ~MC ION Web Design
specially for a "webdesign" company it would make a hel of sense to have valid clean HTML code as a basis for success in all else after the basic steps for details see http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http://www.ionwebdesign.com/
