Hi, can I please have some feedback on a new site I'm working on?

I'm especially interested in a little feedback on the placement of my adsense and chitika. Contextual mode is off for Chitika and in certain pages i'm pulling key words from the DB. It's showing very relevant results which is nice. On some pages the "default" ads are showing, I need to define my own defaults so I dont get digital cameras all the time.

I'm trying to avoid live links, please don't post any - I'm not ready for SE spiders or visitors yet!

Yes those are coop ads at the bottom, can anyone think of a better use of this space?

Thanks in advance for feedback! -Rose

I'll start at the bottom and work up.

    1) "Yes those are coop ads at the bottom, can anyone think of a better use of this space?" How about contextual ads? It makes absolutely no sense to have advertisments that no one is going to click on (unless a) they don't care about your site's topic or b) you get paid per view, instead of per click or c) you just want people off your site).

Actually, now I'll just go in whatever order ;)

    2) I would suggest you try bolding, or hyperlinking, the categories in the first paragraph. Also, I think you need commas in that last sentence - "Others, including Euphonium, will follow shortly."

Here too you need some breaks - "Using the information collected from previous sales - including instrument age, condition and included accessories and modifications - individuals can determine an accurate value for an instrument they are selling or thinking about buying." (Not sure hyphens are correct, but hopefully that gives you the idea.)

    3) "Use the tabs to navigate around Brass Blue Book!" This looks out of place, as it doesn't flow with the previous paragraphs. Should this be a headline?

    4) "While they are not required yet, you can start earning tickets now for future use, as they have no expiration date."

    5) Typically, good placement for "Welcome ... " text is above the 'fold', i.e. near the top of the page. That way people can hit your site and know immediately whether they are logged in (and they won't miss it if this is their first visit).

    6) The Chitika ads and the Instrument Value pages: I think you need to, like the "Welcome ... " text, move the Actions information up. Otherwise, call out the ad by using a box, or a different background. In short, I think they break up your content.

    7) Might want to update to phpMyFAQ 1.5.4 before you go live ;)

That's an initial response, without going into the FAQs area, or too deep in the site.

    Overall, I like it.

Thanks for the comments I really appreicate it...Sorry I didn't write back yesterday but I didn't even get a chance to turn on the computer.

I didn't realize they had a new phpMyFAQ for example it must have just happened. Let me work on some of these things today and post some changes in a few days.
