hi everyone.. quick site review? does this appeal to the masses? potential customers are everyday garden folk and web shoppers looking for the unusual.

SEO review would also be great. Its currently doing very well.

The site doesn't look bad. However, you should rewrite some parts of the copy. Customers don't care about your company. They care about themselves, their needs, their problems. Therefore, whenever possible you should replace "we" by "you." Avoid statements like "we are," "we stock." This can never be stressed enough: it's not about you; it's about your customers.

Your best sellers list may pass unnoticed to visitors; you should find a way to highlight it. Try a bigger font size and maybe add short item descriptions.

    Good luck!

the 'we' thing may be a good point.. thanks.

The bestsellers is there for search engine cross linking (you'lll notice its category dependant).. and not necessarily important. if anything it will be an annoyance to the visitor and i dont really want to bring attention to it. Bestseller list/infoboxes are rarely clicked in e-commerce sites.

I think the site is beautiful, and very well organized. To go with the comment about the content. You may wish to just draw more of a picture for the customer. For instance, with floorboards you may want to paint them a general idea of what these antique reclaimed boards could do for their home, the look it could create, etc. This draws the customer in and makes them want the product even more. It could be enough of a push to send someone teetering on the edge of a decision over the cliff so to speak. Hope that makes sense, but the site is wonderful the way it is as well.

thanks :) unfortunately i dont administer the products or images, i only created the site (some time back now)and do the SEO and marketing.

I'll agree the copy and overall selling of the products could be better, but this isnt down to me unfortunately, as i dont provide the content. I may suggest upping the time allotted to the client, so i can work on the products as well.

    Thanks !

The design elements are amateur looking but the overall layout of the page is good, easy to navigate, also the text is easy to read. Also the image thumbnail listings it wouldn't hurt if they were a little more uniform. Oh and one last thing I hate centered text!

the amateur look is kinda intentional. The siteis intended to appeal to everyday gardeners, the average garden center shopper, homely people etc, and reflect the homely attitude of the business and products, so for that reason was intended to look less hi tech than other sites. It reflects the business kinda well to be honest, which is run from converted farm outbuildings.
It does seem to get some very favourable comments from people ringing up, saying how different and easy to use it is from your average site.

In what way uniform for the thumbnails? you mean the text underneath?

I also spend a lot of time on onsite SEO for this site, its OSC with a lot of custom code in there. but any critique would be fine..

yeah i agree... cant think of another way of doing it really.. it needs a snippet for search engines and to liven the page up.. i'll have a rethink.

I think the layout looks old, try with some other and also add some more attractive features in home page, looks good..
