site: results tiny in google.com and high in datacenters? It's your search settings!!

I think the way Google uses search Preferences is messed up, not the site: search....

If you got tiny site: results in google.com and high results in datacenters, compare site: results when using different preference settings.

    http://www.google.com/preferences

For example, for one of my domains...
    gets...

    Results 1 - 100 of 201 English

even though the whole domain is in English. And when searching with...
    gets....

    Results 1 - 100 of about 57,200

This is why google.com shows tiny results on google.com and high results in datacenters!!! Your search settings only change results on Google.com from a google.com cookie. Google doesn't need to fix site: but needs to learn what English is.

Nice catch Nintendo. Now you can go back and educate Matt and Adam on how their search engine works.

[sarcasm] I guess it didn't have anything to do with the links page after all[/sarcasm]

Do you have the language set in the domain like: <meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en-us"> Or leave it up to them to figure out that since the entire site is written in english that it must be an english site.

That's only a small part of in Nino, there's much more broken than that. To me it looks more like a corruption in the index. I've seen it once before, and they fixed that one, but this looks like another one. Pretty sure they are aware of this one too, because I've seen them fix a couple of small discrepancies over the past few days (like, a site other than mine showing up at the end of a site: search on my site). When you add additional restrictions to a query, corruptions often do become more noticeable.

That may possibly be part of it but it's definitely not all of it. My settings have always been "all languages" and no other filters and I still see the inconsistencies across data centers and even day to day.

    Results 1 - 10 of about 16,400 from psychlinks.ca

    Results 1 - 10 of 3,580 English pages from psychlinks.ca

I never search for English only. I'm not saying it's not a factor. I'm saying even without that filter the number of pages returned from the site: query varies daily if not hourly.
