Site restored to older date

Hello to all,

I possess a hosting account with hostgator.in and use to host my 8-9 blogs with them. I use to work regularly on all of my blogs.

Till yesterday everything was ok, i made 5-6 new post and went to sleep, and today when i wake up, to my horror i see last post made on my site is on March 30.

Then when i checked my all sites i came to know that my account has been restored to 1 month back that too without my consent.


i had lost all the posts (110+), 5 newly purchased personally customized themes and various setting being done on the all blogs

When i contacted hostgator they are saying that no one from their technical team had done this.

My head is paining like hell, what should i do now, Google Panda will now kill all of my sites

There is nothing actually to do,

Do you have any backup of later date?
If you do i will be happy to assist you with that.

If not ask hostgator if they have any backup of your website.

^ I just browsed my FTP directories, and i found out all the images (post images) and themes that are being uploaded on April month are intact in FTP directories, but when i login in wordpress its showing post upto the month of March, and even themes are not shown in Wordpress admin panel which are being shown in FTP directories..

even my admin panel is showing i am having older version of wordpress, while i had already updated all of my blogs to the latest version on 26th April only

still unable to figure what is the main problem

 

check with hostgator on the latest backup which they have taken before your blog / hosting crashed and download that back up to your local machine and try to install and test it on your local machine, you might get some more post from the backup. Have a try, they must have weekly backup of your data.

 

wow, see what i figured out, just now i browsed sql db of my sites, the sql file has all the latest contents and settings of the blog, then also the site is not showing the latest content.

This implies sql db and files are intact, but wordpress has reverted back to old date, what has happened damm


Please some one help me to tackle this problem

 

good to hear, better to take your own backup (DB as well as files ) before it screw other things.

 

NOw it seems i figured out the problem, the blog is not able to fetch the latest contents and settings from the DB

 

is it to all your blog ? how are you hosing ? all of your 9 blogs use the same DB ? what is your total content on each blog ?

 

all blogs are hosted under same hosting account, but all do have different sql db, i checked db of each sites , and all the db contains the latest post being done till date.


However none of the site is showing latest contents

 

wow, i got another finding, just to test out the problem , i experimented one thing.

I created a new empty database, with new user, and i edited the wp-config file of one of my site to point to empty database, and to my horror, the site is still running :O

Can someone now figure out the problem

 

I wonder if they switched servers on you, so the website is now on a new server and you are connecting to the old server.

If you upload a NEW file to your web hosting, somewhere in your public_html or www directory, can you then download it from your browser, or do you get a 404 error?

Are you connecting to the site via an IP address or via the domain name when you FTP? If you're connecting using the server's IP address, try connecting via the server's domain name instead, you might hit a different server this way.

Also, check your domains, make sure they are pointing to the correct nameservers and IP addresses you remember, you can use this link:
http://www.dnswatch.info/

It's possible your host switched servers using a backup, but you're still seeing the new content on the database because you're hitting the old server while the website was transferred to a new server.

 

yea the problem is solved, the problem is with nameserver, i have to told them to check on their NS which in turn rectified my problem

atlast the 10 hour mayhem ended :X:X,

I never expected such cheap tech knowledge from Hostgator technician, i had been following them since 10 hours, they denied of everything, but atlast problem solved and i am happy
