We are in the middle of a complete redesign for a client (their current site needed a LOT of help) and we'll most likely have it completed and launched within about 3 weeks. My question relates to the timing of when we establish links back to this site. They are currently invisible (basically) and my thinking was to start creating links back to the site to get the engines to begin recognizing the site... then, when the site launches in 3 weeks, the drastic improvement will simply carry any momentum that's been created. Any thoughts, advice or ideas on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, TopSpin
I would wait for the new revamped site to go live and then start building links. Also try 301 redirecting the old website pages to the home page or related new pages so that the spiders don't experience 404 errors.
