Actually it doesn't matter what kind of a project you have... site, ecommerce, blog, forum... I just wanted to gather the most simplest techniques of increasing traffic to your site.
I'll just name few the most simplest things we all should do on a startup... I sure you have something to complete this list:

    1. ping backs on your site
    2. feedburner or alternative
    3. quality--unique--fresh content
    4. publish every post in digg and etc.
    5. keyword research before writing
    6. design and friendly navigation
    7. link directory
    8..........

I suppose it will take some time to all those things but they are really important, aren't they?

    8. posting articles containing site links will increase visitors on website as well as provide back links. Best are Ezine and Articledashboard.

Muzammal Akram, then you can even spend $200 and publish a Press Release on prweb.com and this will be really a great and strong external link and traffic source

I started using a free e-course a few months ago. It's working really well for me. I heard about it through other forums - Bum Marketing Method. I love the article writing approach!

Another good article site is work.com. The good thing is, compared to directory sites which can also be good, article sites have few outgoing links compared with incoming links, so you get more credit for having your link there.

This assumes you have some valuable expertise to put into an article. Most article sites don't want a bunch of blatant self promotion and advertising dressed up as an informative article, and they won't publish an attempt to do this. Most people have some kind of expertise they can tap into though.
