Site picture names

    Does naming photos on your website by some keyword help with SERPS?

    Just curious whether the search engines look at the name of a photo?

    i think it has some effect images are files too right, just like page-name.html

    Yes, definitely. I search the google image very often, if the picture name is correct, it will be shown.

    Ok, thats for images.

    But would the name of a photo for example be picked up by Google as a keyword?

    i.e I sell widgets and I have "Widgets" 8 times on my home page. If I have a photo of a widget and call it Widget will that make 9?

    Does that make sense??:confused:

    If you include your keywords in the alt tags of your images, the SE spiders will consider this as content when scanning your pages. So yes, it is beneficial to your position in the SERPs to include your keywords in the alt tags of your images (including your logo, if it's a graphic).
