If you all think you've got it bad.... I created one of the very first viral videos ever (it was quite probably the actual video being referred to when the term 'viral video' was first coined however many years ago). And, it's been on my site for 6 or 7 years now (and it's been seen by more than 100 million people) - and I've never been able to get a listing in the DMOZ! Hmmmm...
Beat 11 months... I have submitted 4 times. The copy has been purely informative, I think my site is a 'good' quality site. I've kinda given up... DMOZ just doesn't like me... ...naturallyguaranteed.com if you're interested... and if anyone can see WHY they don't like me -PLEASE let me know...
Ok, looks like 7 months and 17 days. Maybe I should resubmit... or is submission not working right now.
Submission is not working yet. Resubmission is working just fine, you get a nice error page letting you know it's a mistake to submit more than once.
DMOZ may not like you ignoring the instruction to submit once only. It's nothing personal, just that every time you submit it overwrites the previous submission automatically, and to an editor it looks like you have only been waiting a very short time as they can only see the date and time stamp on the last submission. Pretty suicidal if you are submitting in an area where the editor reviews in date submitted order. Now you've given up, oddly you may be giving your site a chance. It pays to follow instructions...
It only took me about 30 seconds to recognize that your site is an affiliate site, but I have a lot of experience editing in the Shopping category. Read the guidelines, we don't list affiliate sites. Your site is nice looking and professional, but it will never be listed in DMOZ. Sorry.
Thank you for visiting Naturally Guaranteed Natural Healing Oils - an affiliate of Healing Natural Oils (www.amoils.com) You're getting slow Annie...
Yeah, well, with my husband out of town, I'm eating pizza at the computer while typing with one hand. We all have our off days.
Should I even try to add my blog? www.probargainhunter.com It has daily updated original content - it is pretty new though - just around 2 months. Is this something DMOZ editors are looking at? I was looking at this category http://dmoz.org/Home/Personal_Finance/Money_Management/Weblogs/
Wireddeals, that site looks great to me. You should submit it, I learned a few things from it. Thanks!
a) if you got an acknowledgement screen then the site has been captured by the system. It then goes through a variety of spam filters and within 24 hours gets placed in the category submitted to waiting for review. b) if you are not sure then submit again, once only, to the same category a couple of weeks after the first submission, provided the site is not yet listed. If the chances of it not making it first time were 1000 to 1 then the chances of it not making it second time are 1,000,000 to 1. c) If you didn't get the acknowledgement screen twice, find a forum other than RZ where editors are willing to give a status report. There is no official DMOZ prohibition on status reports, only a prohibition on them at RZ, which is independently run by a group of meta editors.
