I am not an editor in DMOZ but judging the content of your site your missing a lot of countries and there are countries without a listing. A good directory such as yours, would find good listable sites and in due time who knows maybe you would not need a listing afterall. But good luck to you anyway.

    I did one test.

    http://www.sphereinfo.com/cambodia

I picked a sentence completely at random and googled it.
"Cambodia was ravaged by Vietnamese and Thai invasions and wars up until the 19th century"

It didn't seem to be unique. Now I don't know whether it is you copying other people's work, or other people copying yours, but that sends up red flashing warning signs straight away.

Try "El Salvadorans chow down on a standard daily fare of casamiento" equally randomly picked. A different set of Google results which leads me to think you are the one copying. You have either bought the material or simply used it - either way it is not listable as it is not unique information.

I'm still happy to volunteer to edit this category, and my site (www.phplinkdirectory.com) has still not been added in 3 months, 10 days.
    Thanks,

I'm still happy to volunteer to edit this category, and my site (www.phplinkdirectory.com) has still not been added in 3 months, 28 days.
Since I was removed as an editor without being given an explanation, I will need a meta to contact me directly.
    Thanks,
    David

I am an editor at DMOZ and I have several sites I have submitted that have been waiting much much longer than that. Should I get a meta to contact me also to justify the delay? If your site gets listed before mine it will be terribly unfair.

A meta would need to contact me about re-instatement as an editor (and apologize), not about my link being added.

Nevertheless, I will be sure to keep this thread updated with lengths of time, and I invite others to do the same.

dvduval, in respect of your avatar, just in case that you are the "Don" and not the "Consigliere", did you ever consider that his latest advice was wrong and asking for an apology might be inappropriate?

    Regarding needing an apology:
    1) I was removed from DMOZ as an editor at the same time I pointed out a problem with the DMOZ Top Listed Domains in several discussion forums. Since I did this MANY sites that had multiple listings have come under scrutiny, and I think most agree it helped "some" to clean up DMOZ.
    2) No Reason was given for my removal.

I think the Godfather icon actually is perfect because ...
I have done a lot to point out problems such as the DMOZ Top Listed Domains and sites supporting Child Pornography "and you never came to me".

So yes, I think I deserve an explanation, and once I have this, probably an apology is in order (at least for going so long without contacting me).

I believe we are now at 3 months, 29 days.

You were removed as an editor mid June 2005. A google search reveals that you started spamming the SEO forums regarding “top listed domains” early July 2005. Back then you also implied that these posts were the reason you got your account canceled. It is simply impossible for you to have been removed for that reason.
Do you think that it is possible that your removal from the ODP might be related to other instances of you being a little frugal with the truth?

Of course, we will never know the truth, as long as DMOZ refuses to implement a honest and open abuse handling procedures. Therefore, it will all comes down to credibility question and we all know that DMOZ admins and Metas score pretty low on that department. ;)

As do editors who admit to having multiple accounts and admit to buying hijacked domains thereby abusing the directory then tell others how to likewise pervert listings and then run around crying corruption. ;)

You are stating this, not me.

I have no way to either confirm or deny your statement. You are welcome to provide evidence concerning the dates of my postings, as well as the date and reason for removal to support your argument.

With regard to spamming forums, that is something you should take up with the forum moderators, not me. I don't believe I'm known as a forum spammer. I believe my actions speak for themselves. If you like, I will be happy to reopen those threads, and ask the forum moderators if they feel the topic should be removed, or if they feel is was a valuable most.

If there is some problem with my honesty, I am willing to discuss it openly. Are you?

As you know DMOZ policy is based on secrecy and they can not discuss it openly and honestly with you. Therefore they would prefer to make personal attacks, accuse without any proof and insinuate about your guilt. You also should be grateful for this since according to DMOZ, they do it to protect your privacy.

Yes, I agree that it is secrecy, not openness and honesty are not a part of DMOZ's policies. If DMOZ discussed problems with editors with openness and honesty, that would be terrible wouldn't it?

Anyways, just to keep this thread on topic, it seems that there are just too many categories for DMOZ editors to keep up with, and that is probably the main reason sites are not getting listed.

It's sort of like when you don't allocate enough employees to provide customer service at a government office. People are just going to fall through the cracks, and this is clearly the case with DMOZ. They don't have enough volunteers. This may be a result of their reputation, as well as the system itself which does not reward people for listing quality sites, yet there are rewards for listing sites that would bring profit to the editor, as a result of the SEO benefits.

It seems it has now been 5 months, 5 days, and DMOZ has still not listed the most widely used directory script on the net.

It seems that there is no editor for the category, and we've already discussed volunteering.

So anyways, just wanted to keep this thread up to date. ;)
