hello, I have created a sitemap for my website but the number of links is around 150 on the page. Is this gonna cause a penalty from Google? If so what would you recommend? Thank you. Click here
The sitemap can be as many links as you want it to be. The more the better really. Take a look at this sitemap http://www.rentals365.com/sitemap.html there are links to every page on the site.
they won't penalize you but if you have too many link on one sitemap page google can't crawl all your site in one visit so that mean a loss to you. the lower the PR the shorter the time google spider spend on your site.
Leony -- they won't penalize you if your site is up to par and legitimate if your sitemap has a bunch of links. They WILL penalize you if you're continuously conduct in grey areas around your website. What I do recommend for you is to paginate because you do have parent topics. Example: Page 1 (Slate Floor Tiles) then list the 4 links on that page. It would help for easier navigation, easier crawling, and easier usability. It's really preference though as it is also fine the way it is.
really? I've never heard that - interesting though... PS - you won't be penalized, as everyone else has said, and as charless said, you may want to split the site map between a couple different pages.
no they wont do it. they allow 1000 urls per sitemap, so you dont have to worry about anything yes it is half true. the thing is : when you have high PR , it means more backlinks. so that , when google spider crawls other websites, and find YOUR link(backlinks) on those websites, they are diverted to your website, this way, they start crawling your site too. so, the point is, when you have a high PR, means loads of backlinks, it will mean, google spider will be visiting your site from every direction(every website i mean) , it will mean faster indexing
