For the first time in years, my sites links I've demoted are back. In webmaster tools, I'm confused. It used to just show the current sitelinks and then you demote them. Now they want you to type them in? And there are 2 fields, I'm confused which one to put it in. And then I put it and it says, not a valid site link. Do you put http? Totally lost now. thanks.
Leave the first field blank if your demoting a sitelink from the homepage, but if you have a sub-folder that shows sitelinks for certain searches and you want to to demote them, then add the folder to the first field... EG: This search should show sitelinks from the homepage "/". But this search should show sitelinks from a sub folder '/pt/'. (If I want to demote sitelinks for the second search, I would add "pt/" to the first field and the full URL to the second field). That's how I did it, so I hope its right Yes, add "http://" and "www" if you use it. Cheers James
Thanks Tat, very consulted -- not your fault, but before I try to understand: 1) Didn't it used to be a site link came up, and you just ticked a checkbox to block it??? 2) Didn't they have an option to block all sitelinks? is that gone?
1) Yeah, you used to be able to see a list of up to 8 sitelinks for each category of your site that had them, and you could choose which ones you wanted to demote/remove. 2) Can't remember seeing that option, but maybe... I think now you can demote up to 100 URL's, but you have to add each URL individually.
Tatoos, thanks ok! So you must have sitlinks per force now? you cannot just block all sitelinks as before? This is the first thing I need to know, then I'll go from there, thanks!
