Hi, In a niche that i would like to be #1 in, the first position is taken by a site that has a lot of back links from other sites from the same ip. address. It seems to me that he links his own sites. Is that legal? Thanks
it depends!there are companies who's handling different websites, that's why they might have the same IPs,but it's okay as long as they have different domain names and different in contents.
i guess internal links are allowed and they if done wisely liked by google not sure though can anyone confirm
I think its fine because its quality over quantity, so he could go out and buy a 1000 domains if he liked, but it wouldn't be cost effective. It would be more beneficial for him to buy several high PR links that 1000 PR0. The fact that they are all on the same hosting shouldn't matter.
ok what is a link building farm then?, i thought it was something like that. I just run the site through seo elite and find it strange to see how he build his links. I noticed that several of his sites has an higher PR, most PR 1, some PR2, and even PR 3. Is it possible that through his way of link building he gets such a high PR?
Interlinking multiple domains under the same ownership is a common practice nowadays. But as long as all the sites has its own unique contents, that will not be any issue with it.
thanks for the quick reply Lycos, i ran the site through seo elite and looked at a selection of his sites. compare these two and judge for yourself! oilfieldtrucksforsale.com and boomtrucksforsale.com all sites are setup the same with or no content or same content, what do you people think?
Ruperz, are you sure he got high PR for his sites only by this “internal linking Maybe there are other web sites that contributed to his sites’ PR!
Hi Sweetlove, do you have seo elite? If so run the site boomtrucksforsale on it and you'll see what i mean. He has one other back link to a my space PR 7?? but it's a nofollow
its weird that its a no follow, i would of though he would want to use it. there is absolutley nothing wrong with recommending your own sites...after all- are they any good or not?
There's no law that says it's illegal to link to your own site. Lots of big companies do it and link to their own satellite sites. (Of course big companies do get away with things the regular guy can't) Google's own guidelines don't say there's anything specifically wrong with it as long as every site has unique content and value. They may have less value than unique IP links but they do have value. I just wouldn't abuse interlinking your own sites, try to make the links relevant and insert the links into the site content as naturally as possible.
