Site Keyword and Adsense earnings

Can someone help with this question. If your web site is about a particular health topic, such as cancer, will it hurt your google ranking or adsense earnings if you start publishing pages about a different health topic, such as hypoglycemia, glaucoma, etc.

I ask because I've run out of topics on my present site but would like to keep building the site, perhaps with pages that don't precisely stick to my original topic. Of course I don't want to be penalized by Google for doing this.

    I appreciate your answers.

I don't see much of a problem with it. But if you start focusing on other content you may end up getting more backlinks focused on those topics and won't rank for the original keywords you were aiming for with the site. But for adsense, it shouldn't make a difference because they are on different pages.

I did likewise on a large health site and the more I diversified it the less hits it got. In the end I broke it down into 12 more focussed minisites. It took a lot of time but it was well spent as the minisites do far better.
Hope this helps as I've been there myself,
