@AvisSoft: You forgot to mention that you are ex editor tapanb and are currently seeking reinstatement.
just to be off-topic , what kind of genie's do you guys hire for editors ? they don't even remember their own passwords .... oh yeah the '' rules '' ... we have spoken already about them lmao.
While applying for editor, it asked if i was an editor and i checked yes, it asked me my username / pass, my pass is going to an old email which is not with me and then again they are denying to update my email or reinstate my account. Anyways this thread is not being me ex-editor etc. I am just trying to know when you deny a site then why you don't give a reason. Thanks.
As far as i remember: Editor's have strict rules but i was not able to dodge them: You must login after every x days to keep your account active. If that is the case then it seems all other editors just login / logout to keep their account active and only jimnoble is the active editor. They must make an edit in their category coz if they don't then they also get inactive or something like that. Rest a new editor cannot do anything more than this.
excatly that is what we have been saying but they dont tend to listen... may be it is a trade secret (key for survival) question like "why my site is not listed" will always go answer unless they provide reasons.....and just leave people to "guess"
By all means, fill out the application (unless you have been told not to on a previous application). Treat the application will all the seriousness that you would give to completing a job application; watch spelling, grammer, site selection. Provide a complete and honest answer to affiliations. Then, if you're accepted, check your SEO hat at the door (if you have one) and edit in an unbiased manner. That doesn't mean you can't have your pet cats (I primarily tend the Equestrian cats and this little gem), but that you can't have your pet sites.
pet sites are OK, so long as you do not cool them. Skrenta has his Topix listings, and luckymojo still has it's 30+ deeplinks (another site owned by an editor). Not to mention that other thread where Jim seems to be telling people that it's OK for editors to list a single site to multiple categories, but the end user should never ever submit a suggestion of like mind. The ODP was FOUNDED on self promotion! Seruously, it was the best method for the founders to get the word out about their own sites... look it up, or ask Rich yourself. Failing that, simply look into why any editor would or could have nearly 20,000 links to the same site within the ODP.
i was not trying to know "how to be editor" you said, dont try to bribe editor... i said what about being one and approving like u said cat site...
Well looking at that thread quoted above in Resource Zone DMOZ is closed to you, you seem to have been told that you will not be re-instated. I wonder why?
My site too, but you know what i don't think about dmoz anymore. If they dont dont care i dont care. Keep going
