Hi guys, science and technology concepts explained! was down for about 8-10 hours yesterday from 3AM 07/09/2009 to around 1 PM 07/09/2009. I thought it was an issue with the hosting company as my other site that was with the same IP address was also down for that time. After it came back up, the other site is working fine, but when I try to login to explainstuff.com or navigate to a different page, it just takes me to some wordpress installation page. Now I'm thinking this could be an issue of some sick dude's virus. Has anybody encountered this before? I wanted to know if I should just clear my whole www folder and then re install wordpress and then move the theme in? My biggest worry that stops me from doing this is "Will that not delete all my posts?" I have around 50 very good SEO optimised posts and very well customised plugins, I don't want to lose the configs and posts and the optimizations. I am ready to catch any advices, ideas, tricks thrown my way.
Probably you are using some cache server which shows the site just check ur wp-config and see if its connected to proper databese or no
Wordpress stores all posts data in seprate database, so you can safely delete files and reinstall. it would not delete your posts.
Do I just delete everything in www? Does that uninstall wordpress? Or do I have to delete anything else?
I tried installing WP over my existing installation after I took a backup of DB. I get a bunch of errors stating my DB is marked as crashed. How do I repair the DB?
This one was fixed....Forgot to update it. Just had to click on the repair DB button. done! Thanks a lot!
