Hi, Something funny is happening, my free nokia themes and ringtones site www.mobile-fun.org is on the first page of Google for many keywords such as themes nokia s60 (ahead of 2 million pages) for example http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=themes+nokia+S60&meta= But still has a PR of 0, after 2 and 1/2 month Is this weird or does it mean it will have a good PR soon ? Thanks
its a good sign, meaning your site had been indexed by google, but you are ranking in a non competitive keyword, i check it in http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/ and it shows 320 monthly searches. After the update, you cam rank high even if you have a low PR. This means PR value is not that important anymore in google SERPs I'll be more suprised if you rank high in keywords that has 10k and up monthly searches BTW how old is your site now?
Hi Thanks for your answer To be more precise my site ranks in 1st page or 2nd page for dozens of similar keywords on Google, and ranks higher than established PR6 or 7 sites.. That's what puzzled me
Ranking ahead of xxxxx pages means very little - the important test is to check overture and see how many searches the keyword receives each month. Rankings only matter if it is a keyword that people search for, i.e. brings you traffic.
PR is just something to boast about not something that will get your site on top of Google serp. You can have a high PR simply by just getting BL from high PR sites (even if its not related to your site), and also for the quantity of BL even if its just PR 1,2 or 3. While One way of having good ranking is by getting related site to link to your site (non reciprocal is always better). So therefore it is better to get linkpartners or buy links from sites that are related to your site WITH high PR. Regards Basoone
well for me its not a myth coz its really happening, for ex, google do give much importance to .gov and .org. To follow is the .com . net etc.
I hear if you double click the top left corner of your website every hour on the hour your site will rank number one on google! There is a myth about .org .gov .edu ect ranking better than .coms. But remember I said myth. So therefor it is not true. PR doesnt mean ANYTHING when it comes to SERPS. If you look at it and try to analyze it you are wasting your time. Also no one searches for the term "themes nokia s60". So thats why you ranked high so quick and you will see hardly any traffic from that term. Ohh and this page will probably be on the first results of Google in the near future now with a PR 0.
wait till google updates PR, it usually happens only once or twice in 3-4 months, so you have to be patient till then.
Pr is still part of how google ranks websites. Google makes this clear through there website guildlines. PR updates all the time - it just does not show on the toolbar.
Chris hirst and van gogh: PR is not important, it does not give you sales, it does not give you quality traffic, it does not give you a strong community or memberbase and it does not fill you with any happiness either. all it does is tell you roughly how well you've been doing in google...four months ago. nuff said
also just because there are 2 million sites for that search term doesnt mean those sights are optimised for that keyword. To get a better picture of the competition for that keyword i would also use allintitle:nokia s60 themes - giving you the number of sites with them keywords in the title allintitle:nokia s60 themes allinurl:nokia s60 themes - number of sites with the keywords in the url and i sometimes use the phrase with quotes arround it. I dont know if most people use that but i think it gives a better view on how many other sites directly compete with that phrase
