Site Indexed or Not?? Google can't decide

i'm wondering why, when i visit Google Webmaster Tools and click on sitemaps, it says

    URLs Submitted: 61
    URLs Indexed: 4

yet, when i do site:mydomain.com it returns 109 results?

i was under the impression that site:mydomain.com tells me exactly how many pages are indexed. why am i getting 109 on the SERP and 4 in Webmaster Tools?

my only theory is that the SERP gives the FULL index (main and supplemental) and WebMaster Tools only gives the Main Index. Or does supplemental exist anymore?

I had similar issues with the site index stuff about google. My best guess right now is that it may be because it's a new site.

Blah. WMT is hardly ever accurate for me. Especially when it comes to indexed pages.

do not believe this "site:mydomain.com" Google sometimes do not display actual indexed and backlink pages....

GWT shows pages indexed in google.com domain.
There are always difference between your local google domain and google.com listings.
