    All,

I'm working on a site index with links to my content to help my site get more pages indexed. Does it matter where on the home page the link to the index is placed? Is a search engine spider more likely to follow a link placed near the top of the home page or does it matter?

    Thanks,
    Mike

Why not just create a sitemap and sumbit it to Google? ;)

To answer your question, though, the higher in the page, the better, generally.

    hey there,
does a sitemap really helps better content indexing compared to default google spiders crawling our site daily ?

    just a thought ?

Yes, im my experience at least... I used to have 30,000+ pages indexed by Google, but sine Bourbon, I've had less than a couple of thousand... one I added a sitemap and submitted it to Google, I have over 37,000 pages indexed (and rising every day).

Creating a google sitemap is always a good idea, it will increase the number of indexed pages (never heard anyone claiming it lowered that number) and it will give you an xml file with all your links, and with that you can also create an HTML version of your sitemap for users and/or other spiders
