My site seems to be gone from google listings for the main keyword I usually use to search for it. It has consistently been on the 3rd page of listings but not i cannot find it anywhere. If i search for the whole URL it comes up so I know it is still indexed. It was on the 3rd page yesterday and now it is nowhere to be found. It is SEO'd, has a good number of backlinks and even a few ezine articles pointing back to it. What is going on?

Oh, that means for sure you are under Google Sandbox effect, wich "attacks" new sites. An example would be a new book wich is in the library higher for few weeks or days but after it goes to the place where it belongs.

You have to "earn" up your position on SERP. Get backlinks and wait.

If you have a good domain with the keywords you are targeting and consistently build good link backs you should start to see a climb. Just check your position every few days, and you will see your site climb.

Too often in webmaster forums and SEO JunkieAnonymous meetings around the world do you run into the situation where a webmaster panics after having their rankings in Google disappear. And why shouldn't they panic? Google is the 800 pound gorilla, a good ranking in Google can make or break your site. If your Internet ventures are your only source of income you could be screwed. I speak from personal experience, I've had a 6 figure a year site drop from Google suddenly

I saw the same thing with my site when it was new. I had great rankings for a few weeks and then the site just disappeared. It took 4 months and lots of content/link building to get back in the rankings but I finally made it to page 1 for a handful of good keywords. Still working on it :D

Google dancing is going on! You should not worry much about ranking if you are nothing doing wrong. Try to use proxy servers for checking rankings on different database of Google. If still nowhere after one week, then try to get few more good page rank relevant links and avoid to get any bad neighbourhood for your project.
