I was using Site Explorer the other day to check my competition. Actually, it was a web site for sale and I wanted to check the back links. Anyway, according to Site Explorer there was a little over 200 links shown for the site in question. I went to about 15 or 20 of the sites listed and looked for them. There was none to be found. Out of the 200 or so, there was maybe 12 or 14 that were from the site itself. The rest of the 190+ were from way off topic subjects. So I checked out about 20 or so of the sites at random, and sure enough, there were no backlinks to that site at all. Any one know how this works? I mean even if they were using Linkvana or another link building site, there should have been something on the page that indicated it. Like a link, for example. Any ideas on what I am missing? Tks, Zeek
Yahoo seams to be a little slow when it comes to removing old backlinks. I have noticed the same thing on sites in the past as well. Maybe someone else can help explain why this is a little further?
Yahoo is slow and you should wait some days or weeks that yahoo database to be updated, then check for backlinks again.
