I have thousands of links built to my site but Yahoo Site Explorer only shows 6 with 5 being from pages in the site Does this sound right?
it takes time for search engine to find your links did you make sure that your links does not have do not follow attribute?
The site has been around nearly 5 years i hope it doesn't take that much time i have built 1000s over these 5 years.
Did you explore both with and without the 'www.' in your sites url? Have you recently checked any of these links to make sure they are still active? Does Google pick them up? Any other backlink checker?
It's really wierd if links are old. Maybe you should check whether they are coming from same IP or from a bad neighborhood, because these are usually left out.
do not follow attribute? or maybe you have to check the robot.txt or like mentioned before url with & without www
all the urls are www they are all do follow they have been in the article directories for a year or more and are still there they are just not reported
Yahoo is usually the first to show the backlinks. I have seen some change in the number of backlinks that yahoo has been reporting for the last 5-6 days. For lat 5-6 days Yahoo is reporting very less backlinks than the actual number, don't know why. Try altavista and see how many backlinks does it report. try link:yourdomainname in altavista , you will probably see more backlinks through altavista. I think there might be something going on between google and yahoo to counter mass links.
agreeing with sharma, google and yahoo are both reporting less backlinks...my numbers continue to drop every day. it's heart breaking to say the least to see yahoo exp show a site of mine with 200,000+ drop down to 21,000 in a couple of weeks. wtf!! lol though i don't think that has anything to do with yahoo showing mnymkr 6 while google shows 1500+ i'm still stumped on that...
I would say Yahoo Explorer is not always accurate. Sometimes, there will be links even when your link has dropped off the page. And, sometimes your internal links show up as back links. IMO, it's a good tool to get a rough idea of internal/back links.
I think something has defo changed with Yahoo! I used to have over 30k links for one of my forums and now it's dropped to just over 500. There's no way that all those links could have been removed in such a short space of time, something has to have changed with Yahoo's algorithms.
