I read this blog today: http://www.johnchow.com/index.php/10000-a-day-from-google-adsense/ , err can't link at the moment, ahh well. 10K Per day is still impressive, but reading that changed my perspective a bit.
There are now a proliferation of (similar) sites now. Zorpia.com gets over 1m page views a day and is allowed to show google AND yahoo ads on the same page as a result of being such a premium advertiser. What site slike this have done is be "free" and self perpetuate. Every time a new "free" member joins the site grows by about 6 pages. Now if guidelines were adhered to about "ads cannot be shown on sites created solely for the piurpose of showing ads" then clelary they couldnt exist but they get away with it for two reasons:- 1. It would be impossible to "prove" that is why they are set up (though common sense says they are) 2. The earnings for google are just too immense for them to ignore. Their shareholders would not be happy bunnies if sites like this were banned. Google, like any other public company, has a duty to shareholders as well as advertisers.
I just got the oppurtunity to interview Markus for my blog (link here.) I found it very interesting that he actually banned Alexa and Websearch toolbar users from his site for a while to keep things below the radar.
Cutter- nice interview....but can you tell us why you found a reason to insert the words "Exclusive Interview" in your title? That simply isn't true, and smacks of self-serving, don'tcha think?? Many have interviewed Markus- you're a day late and a dollar short buddy. http://powerplayers.blogspot.com/2006/03/power-play-interviews-markus-frind-1.html
The Wordpress story is definitely meant to drive traffic to the site. If you look carefully at the text, you can see a definite theme. Emotionally evocative terms, such as "millions of passionate users". What's the hardest thing about a new web site? Marketing it. Making it look pretty. What does the blog article say his methods are? Anti-marketing and an ugly design. So, he's directly addressed the anxiety of many web designers. Makes them want to click-thru to see the web site. The tip-off for me was his use of the phrase "go deeper". I'm a certified hypnotherapist and I have 15 years experience in marketing and I understand the use of hypnotic phrases and themes in advertising text. Fractionate - change the subject, then change it back. Who cares if he's hosting with .NET? Oh, wait, it contains the phrase "I love that he picked .NET...". Then, in the next paragraph, he switches back to anti-marketing design and more marketing phrases. "I accidentally fell into this". Change the subject, change it back. "By the way" = "Buy the way" The truth is, he's got killer advertising text. He's not anti-marketing. He's about as pro-marketing as you can get.
Thats totally awesome, I would like 10k a year from adsense, he/she are making thta a day, thats unreal
good info, although i dont agree on the design part, u can have both, plus plenty of fush has fot a good design now
Interesting read. I'm always very picky about the design of any site I do, has to be perfect but this has changed my perspective a bit!
if every people get $ 10000 perday, Google will be bankrut... interesting tips but only interesting not useful
Hi Eliza, I'm pretty sure that you're an Indonesian. Have you come to adsense-id.com? You'll get more information there with our native language.
