I suspect site will not be down long enough for outage to cause any problems. Generally bots check again if they find site down. I believe they said they had found source of problem.

    Good luck,

It's a pretty major power outage, scarry thing is there were some threats against LA yesterday.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- U.S. counterterrorism officials said Monday that they were skeptical that a purported al Qaeda tape that threatened California and Australia was a prelude to an attack.

seems like its just typical city worker incompetence - misconnected wires.

how 1 spot can affect an entire city - now that really makes very little sense.

I don't know about that! I had sites down for three days. They've been up for about a week now and they havn't recovered. Now they get just 20% of the visitors that they got before they were down. The next update might be the soonest time to recover if there not back up by the time the search engines look at them.

You would really have to down for a week or more for that to happen. Good luck. If it last any longer you might look to the midwest for hosting/colo :)

Not really. The line he cut was a major conduit. What happens is power ends up transfered to other lines where it begins to overload. At that point breakers start tripping (they are supposed to) as a safety measure to keep from frying things. In the end a lot of stuff goes down as each breaker trips.

Wow, Ninteendo, I am really shocked about that. Hope your visitors come back soon. Do you see a drop in visitors coming from all three search engines or what? I always panic if a site is down but have never seen any adverse consequences.
