Site disappeared

When I try to see my site in Google index with 'site: mydomain.org' I see 150,000 results, but I do not see my site. Shouldn't I be seeing my site at the top of the results?

How do I know if and why I am being penalized by G for anything? My site is 100% legit -- no blackhat.

    It's "site:mydomain.org"

    You are searching for "site:<space>mydomain.org"

    There should be no space after the colon {:}

    Cheers!

I figured out so far that the entire site was stripped from the search results from one day to the next. I never made any changes to the site at all, and the site has been around for years, 100% legit.

After looking at all the guidelines they have on their site, I cant see where I am in any violation.

I filed a "reinclusion request" through G's sitemaps page. God know how long it takes to get reindexed.

Thanks Abhishek, actually, I did exactly that as you suggested. And the result was the same thing.

If you tell us your website name, we can take a look and give much better advice to you. Without knowing the name of your site, it is quite difficult to offer any worthwhile advice. Good luck on your appeal, as well.

There should be a reason why the site disappeared from Google index. If you applied for reinclusion without knowing what caused it is the same as asking "why did you remove my site?"

Would be good to have a thorough check on your site. Not just on the pages, but also on where it links to, where it is linked from, etc.

Actually, I have been all through the site from all angles, looking at my links, link texts, etc, and can find nothing.

If you want to have a look at it, the site is: http://www.xtort.net

    What about this:

I was agressively blocking a lot of bots with my htacess file, and maybe it could well be that it blocked the Googlebot. What makes me think this is when I go to the Google Sitemaps "Diagnostic" tab, I see that my site has no pages in the index, *and*, has 38 HTTP header errors, which means that Googlebot cannot access any directory on my site.

I since removed all of this crap Saturday from my htaccess file, and am hoping that might help. But it doesn't make sense that accidentally blocking Googlebot would remove all of my pages from the index -- does it?

Another thing you might find interesting is this: although 0 pages from my site are in the index, my site still has its PR5. That's odd, ah?

To my knowledge, even the people who use "hidden text" and stuff, do not get an outright ban, usually just a drop in the serps...

    tks for the replies!

It's a penalty for repeating the same content over in different ways probably. Doesn't have anything to do with your webhosting, scripts, etc.

Your backlinks still count, google just stripped away all your sitepages to limit you. I'm surprised they didn't ban your adsense.

Your site is just adsense spam in nature. Google said they were cracking down on people who autogenerate useless content to get adsense money and other revenue, and I assume you're one of them. :D

There isnt any autogenerated content on the site, or is there any content repeated over and over. A lot of the content is unique, like the software programs I wrote. Adsense actually even reviewed it a while ago, and wanted me to test something for them.

Blocking Googlebot will be understood that you don't want your pages to be crawled, indexed -- therefore cannot be ranked on SERPs. But if they are already in the index it could take time for these pages to be removed there, probably once confirmed that the pages cannot be accessed after repeated attempts to crawl them.

It has to be something awry with the htaccess file, because it just seems to odd that all the pages are removed fromthe index, but yet the site still has its PR.

I will update if and when I do make any progress. It might be a good reference for others regarding timelines.

The PR shown on toolbar is not the actual PR; it is the value of the PR which was exported to the toobar in the last pagerank export. Actual PR is constantly updated. So if Google has banned your site and reduced your PR to zero, it may still show up as 5 (last PR) now and will be reduced to zero in the next PR export.

This is a strange one. I still have my PR, it is the same with any PR checker I use. Plus, when I look at link:www.xtort.net I see it has over 600 backlinks. The only thing is that is not normal is no pages in its index.

    Just for references sake:

Site disappeared from Google's index completely Nov 4.
Fixed some HTTP header errors. Looked over site, no apparent faults.
Filed Reinclusion request few days later. Never heard anything from G.
    Site re-indexed December 5.
    Still have no idea w/happen.

at least the worst is over :)
