Hi, Could i please have your thoughts on the layout, coding and design of my site www.funzac.com I would be very gratefull Thanks
Okay before I start, let me just warn you that I am a bitter/harsh person and I have a cold, so I am hating the world right now. -White text on the babyish blue is very hard to read. -The white text on the orange background is hard to read -The horizontal navigation needs some padding, crowded, hard to read -Change in design. The left blocks differ from the right blocks. On the left the title bar doesnt go accross all the way, and has an orange border, the left doesnt. Variations like this are unappealing to me -The logo is fine, butt you could of made it smaller (theres 20 or so extra pixels on each side which means needlessly wasted bandwidth on a bandwidth intensize site) - Under each game there is no text describing it and the text that is there is rather small. I would add text under each game -Your top ads could then have a small game screen shot corresponding to each add. This would make the add links look like they are game links. If it were my site tho, I would add an ad block in between main content categories with the little icons above each ad and leave the top as is, therefore greatly camo'ing them It's not a bad design, but I would really work on the matching things up, making the text easier to read, text under game icons, and the ad presentation
The overall choice of colours is quite bad. It seems like valid Xhtml which is good. The thumbnails for games are varying in size and quality (which is bad). As your competition, other flash game websites generally have high quality designs, I think you will have trouble keeping your visitors.
thats cos they're opposites in the colour spectrum, but its meant to be a fun lively site which doesnt bore you
http:/www.www.funzac.com came up with a 410 error for me! ok ok that wasn't funny. First off, I'd like to say I like bright turquoise and orange, but it's obvioulsy not a good choice of colour for acessability stuff i.e - someone in this thread mentioned blue! They are colour blind obviously. It's more common than one would imagine. White text against a turquoise background is impossible to read. Even if you "bolded" it and weren't colour blind, it would still be impossible to read. Makes you winder why lime green and bright orange are such a popular combination of css designs at the moment doesn't it? (does me anyway)
OK, some thoughts on what coulours should be changed and what to then? this is not s strong point of my designing picking colours lol
bad colors, first you have to choose you want to use blue or orange color, don't use these colors together.
I'm not great at colors but this looks a whole lot better. If you want to use it thats fine but a link back to http://www.solonastoria.be and a rep point would be nice. http://nofussupload.com/uploads/main.css http://nofussupload.com/uploads/funzac.gif
