We had some trouble with server due to some virus attack. Two websites were not working for 5 days, and as the websites were heavily lined by others, googlebot did a deep crawl and found no pages, infact, it was dns timeout. Now most of the pages indexed of the website show no cache and no description, just the following kind of links. There are around 800 pages in index at the moment. site.com/page-abc.html Similar pages My question is that, will it be possible to get these pages re indexed in google with some new descriptions and Tags if google comes again to the website and does a deep crawl. Thanks in Advance for advice Dhaliwal
Hi there Similar thing happened on a site we manage. Google dropped the site completely. It had #1 and 2 rank for its keywords. We made no changes, site went back up. It took 2 weeks but the site regained its ranking and all is fine.
From my experience google deals with site downtimes in a very merciful way. At some point one of my sites was down for several days because of a DNS outage and it completely recovered within a month. If nothing seems to happen after a month or so, I'd write google a mail and explain it.
gdtechind - Google does a deep crawl on every website quarterly. Seeing as the next quarter ends at Oct 1, you'll have a deep crawl before that date followed by an update to the google index. You'll get alot of 1-3 pages crawls until then, but the big fix will be then.
