Hey guys, I'm starting up a small web-hosting business, I've already got a few customers but I'm now trying to build things up and start taking some more sales. As part of this, I've been trying to build up traffic to my site and I've recently got a completely new design. I'm running an Adwords campaign and getting a pretty high click-through for my ads but no-ones converted yet, so I'm thinking that I need to look more at my site. What I need if you can help is a solid critique of all the aspects of my site and please be harsh if you need too! Although a lot of work has gone into it so far, I really want this too succeed so all comments are welcome. I've already had some thoughts myself, but I'd like to see what you think. I'm mainly targeting local (Bristol, UK) customers at the moment and I'm after small to medium size businesses. Heres the url: www.leadingedgehosting.co.uk (I don't have enough posts to make this a live link yet) Thanks
Yuo don't have enough posts for a review yet either so this will be deleted in a couple of minutes (to give you time to read it and copy it away).
One more, quality one. Read the rules and you'll find that double posting isn;t allowed either. I'm way too patient with you.
I won't. I'll make you work for violating numerous rules in one invalid thread. Go answer someone's question in detail and I'll let you off...
I have a gut feeling I'll jump to 14 soon in this poll here http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=15857 AND get some green rep via the Rate Post link... HINT allstar!!!
On topic now please ladies and gentlemen this allstar needs his site reviewed... Here's the link: http://www.leadingedgehosting.co.uk
First things that strike me are that its way to orange, my eyes don't know where to go... When I glance at your site, there not the word web hosting anywhere in sight, only when I take some more time I see its about hosting. Your logo looks to big compared to the rest of the fonts used. Decrease the size of the logo, and increase the size of the font a bit. Make sure that your logo mentions web hosting. When I hover over your buttons, the background of the buttons becomes white. I suggest that you use CSS for the hover effect, and no pictures..
OK... First off - The site design isn't offensive. It's a fairly standard Mamboo template I believe (Correct me if I'm worng), but you seem to have used it efficiently enough for it to look kinda original (I guess the logo has something to do with that). You say you're running Adwords but haven't converted any sales yet... How targetted are your ads? For instance, lets say your ads were apearing for the term "Professional Web Hosting" and you were taking people to this page [http://leadingedgehosting.co.uk/phpshop/Page_79.html], I'd say that the term "Professional Web Hosting" is probabally a bit too generic and could really mean anything when you think about it. How do you actually know what someone searching for "Professional Web Hosting" is really looking for? Are they after Apache or IIS hosting? Do they want server side lanugages enabled, and if so, which ones? How much bandwidth do they need........ The list goes on and on... I guess what I am saying is that your pages aren't really targetted enough. You say you're looking for customers from Bristol but I don't see any mention of it on the site.
Cool, some good points thanks guys. I'll get the logo changed asap and yeah you're right the font size is a bit small, it doesn't invite the eye in. As for the adwords stuff and targetting, I know that this is something I need to look at in more depth - More posts to follow in the adwords forum.
