    What exatly is this doing?

    site:domain.com -www

In my stats I saw someone has been using that query so I tried it myself. What I see is a few pages that seems ok and then I see a lot of supplemental pages.

    So I tried:

site:www.domain.com -www and then again most pages are supplemental.

So I am wondering what it is doing. Anybody?

basicaly the query site:domain.com -www means, search domain.com and dont display pages with the word 'www'. Supplemental result means G think it is less relevant, thats all. Maybe you could try to use site:domain.com -inurl:www.

IMO, supplemental results means pages that do not change/update frequently so google do not frequently attempt to crawl it.

Further the "-" sign eliminate something from your search result as it is eliminating www from your search result, the pages that are represented as "supplemental result" will be showing the same regardless of the querystring.
