    Hello All,

Here is my query regarding having a blog in a Site:

    For suppose I have a website www.example.com for this i had started a blog --> www.example.com/blog/

The main purpose behind creating blog in a website is to increase pages and visitors for a blog by having informative content.

So, my question is rather than going for www.example.com/blog/, can i go for www.example.com/abc.html page?? OR ELSE is there any bot defined by google to crawl blog posts??

Which is the good practice you think ---- going for a blog in a website or adding pages to website??

    Hello Dude:cool:
Thanks for given me this opportunity to give u some suggestion...
.com/blog or .com/abc.html.... both are beneficial for website..
But majorly .com/blog its use only some one page info like a blog...
Or .com/abc.html its use for website specific inner page name much more pages...
That's why u define what we do....
    I hope u understand.....................................................:p

@rapid_seo & @monikasaini... thank u guys for the quick reply.., as u said..yes in both the ways i'm adding fresh content.. but after doing some research i came to know this advantages of having a .com/blog........... this .com/blog/ gives opportunity to the visitor to comment on our website which a user can't do it if we have .com/abc.html.., and even in .com/blog/ visitor can share the content across some of his social networks if he likes...

Am I right guys.., hope to hve more insights on this...,

@uday11 : Even if you have a .com/abc.html then also visitors can comment & share the content across social networks. Like if you use blogger.com as your blogging tool. e.g. http://www.blogger.webaholic.co.in/2011/10/multi-tabbed-widget-for-blogger.html

While adding fresh content is one of the major factors to grab visitors. Whereas duplicate content or canonicalization issues could be a -ve point blogs. Writing great content, following the Google guidelines, sharing could be a traffic booster.

@jim60723 what you said was exactly true.. if i use blogger platform across my website.., visitors can definetly have an option to comment.., but if i have a website is purely commericial one.., for this i need to have a code to "add comment box" at the end of each page.., but if i have site with .com/blog/ and if i use blogger or a wordpress platform then those things are predefined.., but i will defintely look into your suggestion..,

as you said fresh content, user informative, attracting and interesting content will boostup traffic towards my website.., if i have duplicate content or canonicalization.., den one or the other day google will defintely break my backbone...., btw thank u for the reply..,

Well, creating a new blog in folder would be a better option, according to me.

I would not advise you to create your blog in sub domain because Google does not prefer to display results from sub domains.

@C.Rebecca.., thank u for the reply...., i couldn't get you what you said.., is this you mean:

creating a new blog in folder would be a better option: for example.. .www.example.com/blog/

create your blog in sub domain - www.blog.example.com

according to me i feel creating blog in a folder which you mentioned is the correct process and even google recognizes it.

Definitely having both is the best for your site. but i believe blog comes first because it is the only way to keep updated your site. As needs arises you definitely add pages in your site but after adding it you have to keep updated it. with blog you can introduce your pages.
