Digital Point, About a week ago we put up the ad banner on the site and everything was working well. Ads were being serverd up and there were no issues - plus they were being cached on the server and everything. Several days later the site wasn't working becuase the cfhttp (coldfusion call to get ads) wasn't able to connect to the digital point server -- when tried off any other server it would connect with no problems. When trying to connect with one of the web servers it would die and even KILL the site! The site is www.mfgjobs.com. The site is hardware loadbalanced between 3 servers and I don't know if this would cause any problems or not with the code that gets the ads and could ban it? Fyi, the IP on the loadbalancer (outside IP) is different from the IP address on the 3 seperate web servers and not sure if this could cause problems with your "checks" Thanks, Jab1000
Don't know... the system will automatically block IPs making an excessive number of queries to the ad server (not caching ads). What's the IP?
My site has been blocked again, seems like the new asp script is not working, its run fine on my other sites and still does however my main one is extremely high traffic, 213.171.193.34 and this is the one that's now blocked as of today.
urgh, just received the dreaded revalidation process failed email, I presume a large traffic site would not cause the blocking however my other sites run the same code with no problems.
This seems to be the problem; "Unfortunately as you are hosted on a Windows server we are unable to make and file permission changes. This is due to the way that Windows handles file permissions for the master permissions owner or IUSER as you pointed out in your e-mail. If you need to change file permissions you would have to convert to Linux hosting, as the file permissions on Linux is handled in a different way." What a waste of space they were, Shawn could you unblock my IP for the "last" time please, I can put the file in the cgi-bin which will allow the correct permissions.
Shawn, The IP address of the server is 216.183.126.108. I know that we have permissions to write files becuase we truly run the boxes and several VERY large sites. Plus it is a CFMX site. If you can please check it it would be appreciated! Thanks, Jeremy
Shawn, Can you also check the IP address of the other 3 servers (remember this is a hardware load balanced site) -- each server has a seperate IP and then the external loadbalancer IP (one given previously). web server 1: 216.183.126.104 web server 2: 216.183.126.106 web server 3: 216.183.126.107 Thanks!
yeah, looks like all 3 of those are blocked for excessive queries. What have you changed on your end to keep it from happening again?
Shawn, To ensure this doesn't happen again we did map all the servers (3 hardware loadbalanced servers) to the same "ad network cache" so that it will work to cache a single file versus 3 individual files for the "same site". It also seems we had a process that would overwrite the cache file with an empty one once per day which would cause excessive requests. We use this process for moving code to all the servers (one place to save to for putting code into production) and an empty version of the ad networks file was in there. Now that this has been fixed is it possible to get the IPs re-enabled? 216.183.126.104 216.183.126.106 216.183.126.107 Thanks!
guys could you please let me know if I can install COOP ADs on my site? ASP and PHP are not supported, i only run CFML MX on our server. thanks
