    Hello,

if I run google site: on one of my sites, on the first page I get "Results 1 - 10 of about 177 from XYZ with Safesearch on. (0.17 seconds) ". Then, if I move to the second page I get "Results 11 - 13 of 13 from XYZ with Safesearch on. (0.37 seconds) " and no more pages. what's up with that? what's the real number of indexed pages? 177 or 13??

    thanks

It is 177 only. It will not show the repeated results. Your unique results is 13 for that it shows 13 only.

    hello,

what do you mean by "repeated results"? I have 200 unique links in my sitemap.

The figure 177 could be an estimated no. of pages that matched the actual keyword typed in search query. Then the results 13 are the pages that are relevant or close enough to what you are actually looking for..

    hello,

I'm talking about a regular keyword search. I'm talking about running the google site: command on a site.

    happens very often

I guess 177 is from one DC server and 13 is from another server.

not sure why G doing this

The strange thing is that traffic from Google don't seem to change much depending on how many pages they show indexed using the site:website command. For example. My site had about 300,000-400,000 pages indexed for a long time and suddenly it bounced down to less than 100,000 and traffic is still about the same. Anyone know why?

Yep, can be. I just have a feeling it's not the real reason. I've seen competitors stay...and in some cases go down and there is still about the same difference between us in traffic. It's like it has no effect at all. About the same as PR these days. :|
