    Hi everyone,

my site is ranking extremely well for the plural term, but is also not in the index for the singular term!

    e.g

I rank for a phrase such as "computers" but not in index for "computer"

Does anyone have any ideas why this may be?

Well since your provided no real information we can just speculate.

    A few reasons,

Are the links pointing towards your site using the plural version in the anchor text?

Is your on page content more geared for for the plural version of the word? What is the density for plural and singular versions on the page you are speaking of?

Perhaps the plural version is much less searched for, so much easier to rank for, and your website is not good enough yet to rank for the more heavily searched singular term.

When you say your page is "not in index for "computer"" -- you mean it doesn't show up anywhere in the 1000 returned results right?

I have a good split of anchor text - probably more towards non ranking singular

T he singular IS more competitive in terms of competing sites but i have a better link profile than many sites in the top 100

On page content is optimised to both - I have good experience of sEO and understand what is needed in meta data, KD, H1 tags, alt tags, internal linking etc.

When I say not in index I mean its not in the top 1000 yes.

Sometimes the more you emphasize on a keyword (e.g. singular version) with SEO the lower rank it gets.

Most probably your content points more towards usage of plural keywords. That's why you get you manage to rank well for it.

its your site is now ranked well enough and your competitors are too strong in singular search term.
