    Hello guys,

I was looking for a concrete answer on whether i should optimize my pages for singular or plural version of target keyword. Let me give an example:

I have a computers website and from homepage i have links for my primary categories / keywords:

    Processors
    Motherboards
    Printers
    Scanners
    etc.....

Now with google adwords tool, i come to know that "Processor" is searched much more than the plural version "Processors". Now some questions arise to improve my SEO efforts:

    1. Should i use singular version of the keyword?
    2. If i use the plural version, does it optimizes for both the singular and plural searches as "Processor" is logically contained within "Processors" ?
    3. What is best strategy/practice to deal with the situation.

    Thanks
    Raheel

I always go for plural one for my website because it covers singular one also.

It depends upon what you are targeting and you have to optimize both singular and plural keywords differently.

I would consider both singular and plural keywords when I want to optimize my title and meta tags, especially in headlines and content. You can compare them in any free or paid keyword research tools on which ones has the most number of searches. Still, both are considered potential to be optimized.

While Google does recognize singular / plural keywords, I'd suggest you to go with Singular keywords. As you mentioned - your consumers are looking for "processor", not "processors". You'll do better with exact keyword matches.

I always go with singular because often times if the search keyword isn't too popular, Google will show you in the SERPS for both whereas if you go for the plural it might only show for the singular.
