** i strictly beleive "-" looks pretty good in domain names.
i m confused about selection of new domain name.
it should be singular or plural.
    we know pet and pets.
    we know food and foods
if i want to design a website about pet's foods. Then which name should be selected.
    www.pet-food.com
    or
    www.pets-food.com
    or
    www.pets-foods.com

I don't believe foods is a word, so I definitely wouldn't use anything with that in it.

    pets-food.com or pet-food.com.

Although to me pets-food.com just sounds like bad english.

Have you done some keyword research? That may help you choose.

    pet-food

No one uses pets when they are searching for pet food. But then again I doubt you are going after the term pet-food. I would do some keyword research on keyword discovery first. Wordtracker and overture suck with dealing with plurals.

Just try to figure out what search terms will people type in the most!
I would guess the best one would be: www.pet-food.com since pet food would be search the most!
If you are still in doubt, why not buy more than one and redirect them all to just one

pet-food by far, I wouldn't even bother with variations that are wrong.
only I might consider other extensions as well.

    Ooops my bad
i forgot to mention it is just an example pet & food.
it could be anything which could sound good english as well.
    like
    forum & forums ...etc
Ok let's take good english example and widely search words."forums for a friend".Then what i have to select?
    friends-forums.com
    friend-forums.com
    friends-forum.com etc..
specially word forum is good or forums is better?
But the point is all about singular or plural:)

First of all do your keyword research homework, try to see what people actually search for and their "natural" writing habits.
Second, go and buy the domains, at $2 a domain it's not worth thinking a lot if you need the singular or plural forms.
