I was wondering what are you thoughts on which is better, A Single review (landing) page - I.e a page which presents only one product (the want that you want to make affiliate sales from) and states that the product is the best, and why it is the best, giving it a five star rating.. .etc. Or a Multiple review (landing) page- Where you review more than one product. Let's say you review three products, give your favourite one 5 stars and state how superior the product is, give the second one 4 stars, and the third one 2 or 3 stars. Here are my thoughts on this: While a Multiple review the page might be more informative to the viewer than the single, hence various programs are reviewed so he will find out that the product you're recommending is the best among the competition, however I am wondering if it could make the viewer hesitant, and for example go on google and try to find reviews on other sites of the other products that are listed on the multiple review page. A Single page leaves the viewer only one choice, only one place to click. There aren't any other links to take away his attention. I haven't tested this and made a comparison, it is just what I think when I'm viewing a page. I now that there isn't a single right answer i.e some products will have more success with a single while others with a multiple review, but in most cases.. which one works better?
I must say I prefer comparison sites as I find it tends to inform the reader. I have actually taken (against most peoples advice) this a stage further and created a whole clickbank oriented review site that (naturally) tend to favour clickbank products over non-clickbank products. What Im finding is that, although slower to start with, people seem to come back for other products than those they first searched for - and I cant really say it seems to have hurt my conversions, they seem fairly average at around 1/100 (I think this is about average anyway!) The other advantage is that you can expand this out to include other affiliate products, and create yourself a win-win situation. Maybe you should try a mix and see which works best for you.
So far, my results in testing this issue are ambiguous. I got about the same number of sales from both types of landing pages, but still not enough to reach a definite conclusion. My advice: test. Make two pages that compete against each other and use a tool, like Website Optimizer, to interchange them. Then you will know exactly which page is better (don't forget the tracking, of course). nadavs
