Our company manufactures a product that is sold to Parents of teenagers to help monitor driving behaviour (Speed, distance travelled and sudden braking events). Enough advertising LOL. We are a small business doing bits of everything from manufacturing design, through building a complete online e-commerce site, and website. We are building a network of affiliates to resell the product. These affiliates would include driving schools who would have direct contact with our target customer. We presently use banners for the affiliates to link to our product page. The product page offers visitors with more information on our product, a flash video. In turn they can then go to our store and buy. So far, the affiliate referral traffic accounts for 70% of our website traffic, but we are not seeing great conversion rates in terms of sales. We are getting reasonable page views and time on the site numbers. Even getting clicks on the add to cart, but few of them are sales. Question #1: Our product retails for $100. What is an adequate commission to keep affiliates interested? We drop ship directly to the end user. Question #2: Our web site is only about 3 months old. What is a decent conversion rate for a business like ours, given it's time on the web? Question #3: Would we be better served listing the product on something like Amazon or eBay store where people might have a comfort level buying? Question #4: Our affiliates are provided with hard and soft collateral, but none of them has this information posted on their web sites. Should they also be preselling their clients with online literature? I think perhaps they should. Question #5: We only average about 50 (80% new) visitors per day to our site. Is that a high enough volume to be in a position to look at conversion rates or bounce rates. Appreciate any comments. I have lots more questions, so thought I'd leave it at that for now. Cheers The Lemur
