"Single Opt-In -VS- Double Opt-In..!!"

    Have you decided to start building your own mailing list. What will it be - single opt-in or double opt-in?

    Some marketers say the single opt-in is the way to go, because they lose fewer entries. That's true. But you're putting your business at risk with a single opt-in set-up.

    Many marketers will agree with me that single opt-in will be illegal one day. Therefore, the more quickly you build a double opt-in list the better.

    There are many advantages of double opt-in also:

    1. Less risks

    2. Protected in the future single opt-in support

    3. Deliverability rates higher.

    4. More sensitive subscribers.


    You already see some prominent marketers building separate lists by sending an email to their single opt-in subscribers to opt-in to their double opt-in list. It becomes a trend, as soon as possible.

    Not to mention a large number of single opt-in will be anyway junk emails. I know when I am interested in a list of choices, I'm looking forward to the access to my inbox and confirm immediately. Single opt-ins are not only as a response and you end up with a much lower rate than email deliverability through a server other than the double opt-in, if you use a service such as Aweber or GetResponse . There are also dangers for those who enter their email address on your registration form. With double opt-in, which will happen more of these fraudulent e-mail received by e-mail and nothing more.

    So, I go for double opt-in... What do you say..? :rolleyes:

    I'm a big fan of double opt-in.

    With double opt-in, it is impossible for someone to be subscribed to your list "accidentally".

    My personal take is that double opt-in will become the standard very quickly as spam becomes a larger issue.
