Single hosting account and different domains

    Hi,

I have a question about something I have never tried before. Basically I have a domain name with dedicated hosting for this domain on a shared server. For convenience sake, lets call it www.abc.com

I have now bought a second domain (lets says www.new.com) and pointed the forwarding to www.abc.com/folder as I thought Id try and share the webspace I have already got.

Now this second domain name is for an entirely different site which I dont want to be associated with the first one.

question: will the search engines list this as www.new.com or www.abc.com/folder?

If it is the latter, can I stop this by not allowing the search engine robots to enter the 'folder' in my robots.txt?

Basically, I dont want the two linked together but want to share the hosting. Any advice welcome.

I think the category you chose for this thread is wrong.. Contact some MOD for moving it..

BTW, are you using Aliases or add on domain feature?

if u sign up with dreamhost for example, they let u add on as many domains on the same account, and search engines see them as completely different, so your all good on that front, who are u hosted with?

I used to use a script called 'default.asp' to redirect different domains to different folders on my old hosting account.

might still work, but not sure is still worth it?

new hosting accounts are less than $30/year

and as mentioned some hosts like dreamhost allow you to add domains onto same account.
