Single Homepage Link vs. Site-Wide Link

What are your thoughts about the difference in weight between a homepage link and a site-wide link? Is there much of a difference between a SINGLe link or a sitewide? Do search engines consider a sitewide to have more authority over the 'vote' or link, or does the homepage link mean just as much or how do they play into SERPS?

I think it would be better to have a sitewide link, I'm not sure if Google will consider it a link to your main page and give you a higher PR, but it's always safe than sorry!

I'd rather take a content sensitive internal link than a sitewide link anyday.

I agree with lorien. I only like sitewides for internal pages, I don't like outgoing links on sitewides. Not to say that I know if one is worth more than the other, but I'd rather have the relevant ones only.

Some interesting thoughts. I stray away from doing sitewides, personally, unless the content of the sitewide is identical in content themes. I've been doing a lot of contextual internal link sales which have worked well. Thanks for your guys' thoughts.
