single anime sites

I saw some people make sites based on a single anime series like claymore, deathnote, bleach, naruto. I wonder are they profitable compared to a 200+ Anime series collection site to a single anime series?

I reckon it's a bit easier to get good rankings for a single anime series then all of them, unless you've got a great domain name with anime in it or something then you could just make subdomains for each and every anime series there is
    Claymore.anime.com for example.

It'll just take a lot more work to build one of those 200+ anime series site then a small one.
But if you can build one, can rank great for all/most of the series, you'd probably make lots more with one of those big sites. Since there'll be 200x the visitors if you've got 200 different series. Selling ads on one of those sites should do well, or selling the anime series themselves through amazons affiliate program would be a great addition.

To make it shorter, the 200+site would outperform a single anime site on the condition that the 200+ site is ranked great (first page on google etc) for most or all of the anime series. I reckon google will consider your site an authority since you're all about anime and you've got most of the series on your site.

Also get other anime sites to link to you, you should have a few thousand sites for every anime series available (I guess). If there would be just 200 different series, you'd have 200 000 potential links to you (with different anchor links hopefully) and all from related content.

It's doable, just takes a lot of time. But the proftis should be very very pleasing :)

I have to say that in reality, it depends entirely on the popularity of the series you attempt to focus on. For Instance Narutocommunity.net focuses on just one series essentially, but is very succesfull with a 200,000 + member forum etc ...

On the other hand, realitylapse.com focuses on no anime series in particular, and instead offers something on 200+ series, and that is a huge anime website.

If you want to make a small success then I would start out with a site focussing on one (VERY popular series) such as Bleach or Naruto, and then once that is established and profitable, use it as a base with which to expand towards a broader and larger anime site/network.

    Hope that helps,

The problem with focusing on one "VERY popular series" is that you have to out-do other sites that focus on that one series. I mean if it's popular, then there must be a lot of sites dedicated to it already. To get in the lead, you have to offer something unique - something that no other site of the same subject has.
