I can imagine the confusion since the title of the thread is "simple tips for SEO"

 

Actually they're not "always" slower. They can be, but that's only if you use deeply nested tables and don't take advantage of the table {table-layout: fixed;} rule in your stylesheet. CSS layouts can also be difficult to manage. Why? Because most of the people who use both tables and CSS for layouts don't actually know what they're doing (and yes, I am saying this from experience).

When did I say anything about inlining JavaScript (other than saying that a search engine spider will just crawl past it)? I always keep my scripts in an external file called library.js (ALL my scripts).

Actually you are. Not only did you post this in the SEO board, but your own blog says the purpose of the guide are for SEO, not improving the user experience, making the site accessible, writing killer Web copy, or creating great designs.

And for the record, I'm not an SEO (meaning I don't do SEO for a living). I'm a Web developer specializing in creating accessible, easy to use Web sites using the bare minimum of clean, semantic and valid code that's also optimized for the search engines. I also write Web copy from time to time.

Thanks for some points stated for this simple tips for SEO. SEO has become great discussion on webmaster's forums. I believe every webmaster has his/her own preferred points on doing SEO and believe that a point is more important than the others... All thing that newbies (like me) want to know is mostly the path to learn SEO. The TS has given good start points and some comments has lead us to a little bit more details. Thanks anyway...
