I am quite confused at this point and need some help, I hope this is the best section for this. My situation is that my brother wrote a custom CMS in php. I have a domain on it and a sub domain. The php he wrote is buggy and has some problems....tech support from him is....lacking. As a result I want to attempt to install joomla on my subdomain. I have not used joomla before and basically want to play around with it and learn it before transferring all of my sites to it. The problem is, that when I try to install joomla, I get a message saying that "You cannot install more than one script in the root directory of a domain." Does this mean that I have to delete the database/php that is loaded into MySql (for that particular sub domain) before I can install joomla? Since I am trying to install joomla on a SUB domain, would I be able to keep the original CMS database intact for the primary domain and install joomla on the sub domain only?
You should be able to keep the previous CMS intact When you created the subdomain (maybe from the Cpanel), you will find a folder in the root directory created correspondingl with the subdomain. You have to install the new Joomla into that folder with new mysql database. The two installations are completely separate from each other. Try it, and let us know if you have any further problem
