Hey, If I am running Frontpage 2003 on my machine but my webhost supports the 2002 Frontpage extension will that work fine?
Never used it. Frontpage is ages behind current web world, you'd want to learn xhtml/css and php and do all the stuff on a real hosting ground.
Well it is not actually for me, I code everything myself but I was askng because a client needed to know but I found out that Frontpage 2003 actually uses the 2002 extensions anyway so that is cool. I gave up the whole GUI crap over a year ago now as it just does not give you the control or quality as hand coded work.
Yeah but there must be something different about Frontpage 2003... better check it good before going with it. Our company uses php (unfortunately) and we are switching hosting companies because they are still with PHP2 or 3 or whatever and we want to use 5.
Yikes! That is old, I would actually suggest sticking with PHP 4 though as it is more secure than 5 and such.
To answer your question - yes, you can use FrontPage 2003 on your home machine and publish to your web server which is running FrontPage Server Extensions 2002. Now, to add more: There was never such a thing as 2003 FrontPage Server Extensions. Check out Publishing From Remote Server to Local Computer - this will give you a list of FPSE components that can be used with 2000 / 2002 FrontPage Server Extensions. Keep in mind that most hosting companies are dropping "support" for FPSE, so if you are using any of those FPSE components - consider looking for another method.
