I am trying to decide for myself. NOT asking what software do you prefer. IF YOU LIKE PHPBB OR SMF OR ELKEARTE AND IT WORKS FOR YOU ALL THE POWER TO YOU. But I am wondering what is good for me based on myself. I unfortunately DO NOT have the time to test every forum software under the sun lol I am just trying to match based on my needs. I am a noob admin who got off mybb. I did not like mybb because it was so buggy and needed constant maintainance that would take days to fix. (Especially after I installed several plugins) I want to spend more time on creating content than messing with the software. But I want the software to be MOBILE FRIENDLY and LOW MAINTAINENCE. Which software would fit the bill? Phpbb or SImple Machines forum or Elkearte? (PLEASE DO NOT BRING UP VBULLETIN lol every one of these threads someone brings up vbulletin.) Simple machines is more secure and has the most options (unless I break your request and talk about vbulletin) SMF also is known for being much easier to install and use.
