I prefer simple logos for the reasons above this post. This is a very simple but nice logo for example:

I want to re-emphasize what I think that simple is better than complex.
Simplicity creates a feel of professionalism, complexity over loads the senses and makes you look amateur. It just reminds me of back in the late 90's when I would look around on sites on geocities and homestead, I'd see so many poorly created sites with logos made using logo generation websites, they'd be so cheap looking.

Look at the logos of companies like NASA. It's very basic. it's simply the name written in a custom made font. The Microsoft logo is simply the name, the LG logo is simply LG written next to a circle comprising of stylized letters of LG.
Even the most complicated business logos are still very simplistic.

Definitely simple. Way more recognizable. Know about a company named "Google"? Look at their logo.

    Imo, simple is always better.
But if you only are going to use the logo on the web, it doesn't matter. But it's easier to remember a simple logo. Look at the big companies :)

I vote for simple. I think web 2.0 style is very simplified, so simple is todays trend. :)
