I don't mind, so long as you don't just say "Don't like it". I usually take 30 minutes per logo, so it would be nice to see the CH taking little longer than 2 seconds to tell me it's no good. If you say why you don't like it and how to do better, that's good.
Personally, I like to be told the reason why. Obviously if you prefer another entry, that IS the reason but it's also good manners for the CH to take the time to say what he/she did like about a designer's effort. If someone writes 'feedback appreciated' that means they want to know what is good and bad about it, not that the CH doesn't like it. We all accept that a lot of the time, our concepts won't win over a CH, but it's nice to find out why for future reference too. PD, you've always been good for feedback.
Thanks Davey and Hecky for the "feedback". I was expecting more "feedback" so I am a little disapointed but at least I know what it feels like One last question before I am off to bed (nearly midnight in Australia): say I choose a design (of course I will). Are you as a CH expected to pay extra for some small alterations for the winning design or does the winner normally does them? I am talking about minor alterations not major ones. But then again, what I consider small, the designer may see differently. "Feedback appreciated"
Thanks again for your quick feedback.. let me know if you have any other suggestion to make it much better...
Hi. Here is a sample of the logo on a mockup label and a sample of the mockup screened on the bag. Please note, these were done to just showcase the logo itself and pretty much was done on the "sloppy".....
PD: regarding feedback: it's the one "prize" all designers can be awarded for their efforts in putting forth a concept for consideration. As we all know, only one receives a monetary reward. And sometimes the feedback is of more value than the prize offering itself, not to mention it shows respect and consideration. Art is subjective and I think the client needs to be mindful and tactful when providing said feedback. Personally, I feel if a contest holder already knows which design he wants, he should end the contest and not waste other designers' time. From what I have observed, you are a quality contest holder and the fact that you ask the question shows you have much appreciation for the work submitted for your review. On the question of revisions: most likely minor revisions are required and should be done within reason. I believe the more you paid for the logo, the more demanding you can be. Cheers!
Hi DaveyBoy, Thanks for pointing out this thing.. my No intention to make it too similar to other.. somehow it's just happened ,I will change that logo version with new. Thanks again.
I would have thought the focus point of the cadburys logo was the two cups pouring milk? Or is that just on the milk chocolate?
I think the two cups are for the 'dairy milk' brand.. the swirl for their C is the recognisable thing on their logo i think.
Ha, Ha: Hecky, you cracked me up with this comment. Seriously, you really made my day What's that saying?? Some things amuse some minds?" or some isn't the correct word in this sentence. But really, this made me laugh (not just smile).
designX: these new entries are definitely much, much more professional looking entries. They are a real challenge to the ones I was thinking of. These are very stylish and very elegant. The previous ones were nice but weren't challenging the my top choices. These designs do. I have seen some contests where I thought straight away this is a clear winner (one was DaveyBoy with his dailytips logo). I have had some very strong entries mainly from ari, kia, coolwanz and now designX with his new entry. DesignX, I can give you some more feedback about how you can improve it but here's my dilemma. Let me just say this, I don't want to offend anyone but I just can't get over xpressions design. I can't, I can't and I can't. It just looks amazing. Even without the new mock up packaging, this logo is just totally amazing. I want to give you more feedback designX but I don't want to waste your time. Before Davey Boy mentioned Cadbury, I did feel there was something familiar about your logos. I still think you can add your own touches to make it different, such as changing the twirl but still, these last entries are very stylish and you should be very proud of them. I need to sleep on it, but the more I think about it, the more I think this time expressions has nailed it. I have never seen a clearer winner. The reason I haven't closed the contest straight after expressions entry was because I said initially I will keep it open until Monday (so I don't like to go back on my word). And besides, I noticed sometimes one designer would come up with a great logo and just when you thought: "Aha, this is it.", then just out of the blue someone has outdone that. I will make up my mind when I get to work in the afternoon (tomorrow) and I get a chance to see them on the crt monitor as sometimes colours look different on an lcd.
Thank you kindly, PD. And you are right, it's never over 'til it's over! There is always the possibility of something more to your liking make a sneak appearance.
Nice move with the cocoa bean. These are great and very stylish designs. I would not know what you could do to improve them because they are very elegant and this time I personally do not see any resemblance to the Cadbury logo. So these are great. I hope you don't feel offended by this, but thinking about how you can improve these designs (which are great) I all of a sudden realised why I like expressions one the best so far. Chocolate is brown so there isn't much you can do colour wise to portray chocolate. And yet expressions used some faint orange for the cocoa bean. That is a master touch as it brightens the design without taking away from the chocolate theme. This was my personal issue all along: chocolate while tasty has a little boring colour, but with a slight colouring/shading added to the cocoa bean, that's what improved the logo heaps. I don't want to take away from your designs. The biggest improvement I notice is you can take feedback and do some great designs once you listen to the feedback provided. Now, I am off to bed and I won't be able to post ANY feedback until I get back to work and I will also be announcing the winner, which I have a feeling won't surprise anyone. Thanks heaps to everyone who entered and like expressions said: "it's never over til it's over!" Surprises can still happen and there is still some time left (at least 12 hours from now). I am now wondering if expressions really means it this time or if he's just being nice??
another great contest by the man from down under I've noticed one thing with your contests that others don't achieve - you get much better entries because you actually take time to give us feedback and therefore the quality of competition is higher as people try to improve. keep doing what you do and you will get the designs you're after! Beats "$1 for logo" any day of the week haha! P.S. mate is used roughly the same here as in Australia (from my experience when i went travelling there) but you pronounce it better with your accents!
More 'Chocolatey', the 'O's are supposed to represent cocoa beans, coming off a branch, you might see it, you might not! Feedback appreciated as usual anyway EDIT:
wow, another big thread by proteindude! You Rock! I agree with most of the designers regarding feedback and the work after the mark has been paid for. I usually have learned quite a bit from my losing logos, so feedback is important for us. I love the designs in here. Xpressions' design is bee-ooo-tee-full. Great job!! And I really like Aries' last one. I love the font he used. proteindude, I'm still not sure about the color of the chocolate that you are seeing. Is it darker, lighter, redder, greener? Oh and I've added another flavour to your line. The reason for this is that you've been eating too much chocolate during your contest. It's time to switch to fruit. Great job everyone!
