Thanks for the changes, Good stuff, Could you try slanting the X so that it matches the slant on the RCROSS Cheers Don
Hi, Thanks for the entry, you grt the concept, but the icon is a bit too chunky, fat looking. Only thin, good looking people will play XRCROSS That's a joke, I'll be thankful if anyone plays it Cheers Don
While it's great you are all creating icons for the X. Why not trying using a font for the x instead. There are a lot of hi energy fonts out there. Then it's just a matter of taking the X from the font and putting a dot in to symbolise the head and adding "rcross"' Easy, If I was entering this contest that's what I would do. while searching through the fonts might take a little while as any professional designer will tell you having a good knowledge of fonts is the sign of a good designer. Cheers Don
Hi, Thanks for the changes but I don't think my slanting idea works. The X is at war with the rest of the logo. Sorry to muck you around. Anyway I've decided your best entry, and the best entry so far, is the one from your first set of entries, the bottom left hand one in black and white. You'll notice the X is closer to rcross. A change you can make, that will hopefully improve the design, is to make the fatter arm, and leg, about the same thickness as the rest of the font. I think this will give more unity to the design, Cheers Don
No offense, I;m sure you have good reasons for PMing me but usually when I get pmed designs it means the designs are not very good. Also iI'd prefer to have the designs in the thread because then other designers can have a look at the feedback I give. It's not really fair if you can see their designs and feedback and they can't see yours. Another reason is that if everyone PMed their designs they'd be no designs in any of the contest threads. As a direct result they'd be a lot less contests as contest holders would have no idea what the design level is. One final reason I don't like PMed designs is there is less chance of "cheats" getting caught, like a designer could use the XBOX X and I wouldn't know So if you want your design to be considered post it here as I won't even look at it in the private message boards. Sorry if I sound harsh. Cheers Don
Good stuff mate. Your design is a good example of keeping it simple.I like the way the black part of the X makes it look like an arrow. About the only things I can suggest is maybe bring the rcross, and tagline, down a bit so that the rcross is in the middle of the X and the tagleine is inline with the foot of the X. You coul also try taking away the slant and just having the font normal. Good stuff Cheers Don
Hi Dante, Great stuff. The second one is almost perfect. However there are a couple of refinements still needed . Can you perfectly, or as close and you can get, centre the RCROSS on the X as it's a little bit off centre. Also, I don't know if my eyes are deceiving me but iis the colour, of the tag-line, different from the colour in the X ?. If it is different could you make them the same please. Also could you change the tag-line to "A new direction for sport and fitness" It goes with the arrow concept. After you make those changes I will declare you the winner. Cheers Don Cheers Don
Thanks for all your entries but No more entries please. Dante, providing he makes the changes I asked for, is the winner, No-one is going to beat his design. Eternal light came second and I'll give him $10 for his good work. Cheers Don
Oh, none taken at all, Donza. I didn't even know you responded until now. I have to admit it was pretty risky of me to PM you my design considering CHs are known to turn around and steal designs; especially those sent through PM. Cheats? Donza, your logo incorporates an 'X'. Think about that for a minute or not. But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know many logos with the letter X look like rips or are rips. We live in a world where like minds think alike; therefore, will create or share the exact same idea as the next hundred people (whether it be intentional or not). And if you don't believe me, then you are in for a rude awakening - just Google Image 'x logos'. Some are actually unique in their shape and design others are merely using a font X or rectangle or triangle or symbols like ^<>|\/ and so forth to form the letter X (this is extremely common). And then folks want it to symbolize a person. So guess what everyone thinks of, does first, and use? Yep, you hit it right on the nail! They add a circle on top for the head. Talk about cliche. If it's cliche, chances are it's a "cheat". So what was that about cheats? No, I chose not to do the cliche or "cheat;" even though that's what you obviously desired. Honestly, Donza, if you didn't care for my design then you should have just said so or PMed me instead of trying to have reason to build post count and bumping your thread with an irrelevant and wordy response. And, if you felt it was relevant, then wisdom would have told you to include all that within your original post. But obviously you didn't feel it was important. So, since you don't mind making this public, then allow me to continue. I know how designers are around DP as do many others; the non-ethical behavior around here is nothing new. With that knowledge, I have decided to just risk sending it via PM directly to the CH alone. I no longer want to deal with the non-ethical designers because really there is nothing you can do once it's ripped other than bring it up on the thread and then it makes a mess of the thread. But nothing more. I have and many others (just search the threads they're not hard to find) have posted clever and original ideas only for everyone born under the sun to rip it because the CH is favoring it. Why? Well, come on, because they want to win the jackpot of $$. Not everyone--it's just an expression--but many do. And, its CHs like yourself who act like they are concerned about "cheats" when it's merely a facade. All they do is turn around and pick obvious "cheats" within their thread. Now why would a CH do this? I know you know why. Because they want the best logo for their money. So if someone can rework or build upon a logo that you favor then who cares about "cheats" because in your mind you are thinking, "It's my contest. It's my business. It's my money that will be used to pay for the logo. So I should get the best or best version. Hey, it's a contest and that's what it's all about [competition and getting the best logo that fits your vision for your business or site]." Yep, all that rationalizing. Really DP contests and folks ripping or stealing your logos to go sell them as their own, whether it be through PM or thread is way too common on here and other places online. That's nothing new though. If I can PM it, then I will because I desire to win also just not with folks ripping my design. Nevertheless, I chose to PM it hoping you wouldn't steal my work because I chose to not make it public. Who knows if you will or not because you are the only one who has seen it. So, who's more at an advantage? Me or you? I know you know it's you. Although I read your comment all late, I know the real reason why you wanted my logo on your thread; it wasn't going to happen, but nice try btw. If you have something else you'd like to publicly add, it would be best to PM me because there's no point for me to come back to your thread that has been declared a winner. I just wanted to respond with a very informational post since you responded to my "I PMed you my entry."
Sorry mate, I never wanted to imply you were a cheat. I also apologise for not stating, in my contest outline, that I would not accept PMed designs. If I had done that then we would not be having this discussion You are also right that my design is cliched and that I don't care. You are also right that in some contests people rip off ideas However there is one crucial point you overlook, If all designs were pmed and two designers independently pm similar original concepts. You can be guaranteed the loser would bleat that his idea was stolen. It would happen all the time. Cheers Don
