simple link manager

    Ya thats mine...its the one I want to make better...snowboard season is late starting here so I need something to keep me busy

    I use an old script from wsnlinks but if I were to replace it this is what I'd want

    • automatic search engine friendly file names
    • duplicate link checking
    • ip banning from submission
    • ip recording of submissions
    • easy category management
    • template based pages
    • priority links based upon preset criteria (recipricol, paid, rating, submission date)
    • extendable fields (because I might want to capture something different)
    • page checking for links and site checking for links (because links move as categories are reorganised)
    • page scraping so I can give a url and it will list any outbound links are on the page that I don't already have and set up the form to add them

    I just finished programming a link manager script called phpLinkTrader. It is a link / reciprocal links manager script that has, at least in my mind (i might be a little biased ;) ) ... good features. And its really inexpensive ... only $5.

    scottatmu, could you please start your own thread....mine was to find out what features I could add to the link manager I am creating which I will offer for free.

    Sarah, thanks for your input...i like some of those ideas.

    These are the features I've added so far:

    # Writes a links page based on the links you create
    # Allows you to search for sites that are willing to link to yours
    # Allows you to create three different types of links
    * Link to another site only
    * Link Exchange (reciprical)
    * Link to your site only (paid links etc.)
    # Lets you check to make sure a site links back to yours
    # Lets you search their site to find a link to yours
    # Lets you send custom emails to their website to inquire about your link

    Features I'm going to add real soon...
    # ability to turn off a link until they link back to you
    # automated comments on past link activity (emails, searches etc)
    # ability of others to request a link exchange with your site
    # allow more then one links page

    Still love to hear some more ideas...
