I have heard several stories about how to get sites indexed quickly. Naturaly the blog and social comments appear but I had heard about the indexing mystical powers of the plugin toolbars and the linking powers. Here is my experiment; I am going to book 5 urls al .co.uk I will put one page up on each of them with minimal content and see which one gets indexed first. I will check all 5 every hour. I will check them by using a nonsense title that will easily put me on top as soon as indexed. Don't want to influence anything by putting site: The first URL will only be requested from the toolbar plugins. As for the other 4, anyone have ideas they want to be tried out?
I would multiple submissions methods and measure in the different search engines... Submit one site through google's submit form Submit another through google webmasters Link to one from highest PR page to which you have access to change Dont do anything to one (control group) Then check each in Google, Yahoo, and MSN -measure which SE picks up the pages first -measure which pages get indexed first -measure which ones rank highest after all are indexed. That would make for a fun experiment...
